Sam Altman (Co-Founder and CEO)

Sam Altman is co-founder and CEO of Loopt, a company that builds mobile applications to help people enjoy the friends, places, and events around you right now. Sam sees mobile location as helping to make serendipity happen, completely transforming how people can and will communicate on their mobile devices. Since starting the company in 2005 while studying at Stanford University, Sam has consistently been recognized for his entrepreneurship. He was featured in Inc. Magazine’s Top 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30 and BusinessWeek’s Tech’s Best Entrepreneurs. As an early innovator in mobile location services, Sam joined Apple CEO Steve Jobs on stage at WWDC 2008, presenting Loopt as one of the first applications in the iPhone App Store. Sam has been a valuable source for many media outlets including Charlie Rose, CNN, The Economist, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and numerous others.

Alok Deshpande, Co-Founder & Chief Software Architect

Alok Deshpande (Co-Founder and Head of Product)

Alok delivers creative artistry into the mobile product development at Loopt (a social service / location application). He brings cutting-edge user experiences to the Loopt service. Equal parts developer and product thinker, Alok’s responsibility is creating a fun to use product that is well engineered. Prior to Loopt, Alok studied computer science at Stanford University. He worked in several design and development capacities with various startups and student organizations.

Brian Knapp, COO

Brian Knapp (General Counsel, VP of Business Operations)

Brian is responsible for business development, as well as legal affairs, data privacy matters, regulatory and policy efforts, and financial matters. He was previously an associate with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati with a focus on intellectual property technology transactions. Prior to earning his law degree, Brian held senior positions in business development and marketing with companies such as Barnes & Noble.com, Dun & Bradstreet, and AllBusiness.com. Brian has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the College of William & Mary and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Ian Peters-Campbell (VP of Engineering)

Before being promoted to VP Ian spent three years developing Loopt’s client applications and leading engineering teams. Prior to Loopt he worked mobile application, video game, and distributed media system development at a variety of startups including Rocket Mobile, TKO Software, and Napster. He has a BS in Computer Science from UC Santa Cruz and a MS in Software Management from  Carnegie Mellon.
