Sam Altman (Co-Founder and CEO)

Sam founded Loopt to improve the way friends communicate. His primary responsibility within Loopt is driving the product vision, assembling a passionate team to realize that vision and making sure people have fun while they're at it.

Sam studied computer science at Stanford University, focusing on security and machine learning. He also helped build an autonomous helicopter navigation system while in school.

Nick Sivo (Co-Founder and CTO)

Nick works on Loopt's backend systems and software. Before Loopt he studied briefly at Stanford University and did contract development work for small businesses.

Alok Deshpande (Co-Founder and Chief Software Architect)

Alok delivers creative artistry into the mobile product development at Loopt. He brings cutting edge user experiences to the wide range of phones Loopt supports. Equal parts developer and product thinker, Alok's responsibility is creating a fun to use product that is well engineered.

Prior to Loopt, Alok studied computer science at Stanford University. He worked in several design and development capacities with various startups and student organizations.

Brian Marciniak (VP of Business Development)

Brian Marciniak comes to Loopt building on over 18 years of experience in the wireless industry. In his role as VP of Business Development, he is responsible for facilitating and managing Loopt's relationships with wireless carriers worldwide.

Previously VP of Sales, Americas at Visto Corp., the leading provider of secure push email. Marciniak grew Visto to the number one position of carrier branded email solutions in North America.

Prior to Visto, Brian was VP of Sales, Americas for LogicaCMG. In that role, he led a rebuilding and turnaround of the Americas sales team. Before joining LogicaCMG, Marciniak served as VP of Sales, Americas for Glenayre Technologies for 12 years. He built the sales and delivery teams to grow revenues from $5 million to $120 million annually over an eight year period. He has also served in successful sales management positions with TIE Communications and Honeywell, Inc.

Brian Knapp (Chief Operating Officer)

Brian is responsible for leading the execution of day-to-day company activities and operations.

He was previously an associate with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati with a focus on intellectual property technology transactions. Prior to earning his law degree, Brian held senior positions in business development and marketing with companies such as Barnes & Noble.com, Dun & Bradstreet, and AllBusiness.com. Brian has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the College of William & Mary and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Eric Carr (VP of Location Technologies)

Eric works with carriers and partners to ensure the Loopt application integrates with available carrier location capabilities. Prior to joining Loopt, Eric was a PhD candidate at Stanford University focused on spatial-temporal systems and measures of spatial uncertainty. Prior to Stanford, Eric was an early employee at inCode Wireless (acquired by Verisign). At inCode, Eric started the WiFi, WiMAX and Mobile LBS service lines. Prior to inCode, Eric co-founded Telispark (acquired by InfoWave). Telispark focused on wireless enabling CRM and ERP systems for the mobile enterprise. Prior to Telispark, Eric was a member of the Wireless and Telecommunications practice at Deloitte Consulting.
